Accelerating the Trillion Dollar Journey
Mr. Md. Fazlul Hoque, Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) attended a meeting at the call of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Mr. Tarique Rahman on September 14, 2026. The meeting was called by the Prime Minister’s Office to brief on the development of the supply of gas & electricity to the industries. Along with FBCCI Administrator, business leaders from 21 trade bodies who have been facing gas and power shortages for the last few months attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman assured the business leaders that gas and power supplies to industrial units would return to the level that existed before the recent crisis, following an increase in LNG supply. He presented a detailed roadmap on how the increased demand for gas and electricity for industrial development and new investments in the coming days would be met. The Prime Minister sought cooperation from business leaders in implementing the government’s energy plans.

Speaking at the press conference after the meeting, FBCCI Administrator Mr. Md. Fazlul Hoque said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman assured business leaders from different sectors that gas and power supplies to industrial units would improve from this evening. Mr. Hoque mentioned to the media that the energy shortage had affected not only business and trade but also wider sections of the society. In order to restore confidence and to ease problems, the government had committed to supporting the business community and industrial growth, he added.
He further cautioned that we should not be over confident that every part of the plan must be carried out exactly as scheduled. There would inevitably be some variation in the implementation of any plan, which would be implemented in phases.
