- Czech Delegation Eyes Joint Ventures in Bangladesh Bakery Sector
Accelerating the Trillion Dollar Journey
Bilateral trade dynamics and joint venture prospects within the bakery and confectionery sector were underscored during an interactive session between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and a high-level Czech trade delegation, on October 5, 2026 at FBCCI office, Dhaka.
The structural strength of Bangladesh's domestic market was outlined by FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir reported that local manufacturers currently meet up to 98 percent of national demand, driven by an annual output ranging between 5.1 and 6.5 million tons. Shifts in consumer lifestyle, increasing purchasing capacity, and rising urban consumption were identified as key drivers of this momentum. Furthering the narrative, FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque highlighted the potential to tap into the ethnic market across the Middle East, Malaysia, and South Africa, while encouraging foreign delegates to explore strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

Representing the foreign delegation, Mr. Michal Jirkovsky, Counsellor at the Czech Chamber of Commerce, affirmed Czech industrial capabilities, particularly in advanced automation and heavy equipment manufacturing. A willingness to establish long-term joint ventures, local production facilities, and technology transfers was also conveyed during the discussion. Furthermore, the potential establishment of a Czech Embassy in Dhaka to support smoother business ties was also highlighted.
Significant attendees included- Mr. Antonin Dostal, Owner of the J4 sro Company; Mr. Pavel Jandura, CEO of the Liberecke Strojirny Company; and representatives from confectionary and agro processing industries in Bangladesh.
